We, Shimadzu Corporation, wish to express our sincere thanks for all the people concerned who have sent messages of concern, condolence, and encouragement regarding the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in the Tohoku (North East) region on March 11, and the resulting accident at the nuclear power stations in Fukushima Prefecture.
Due to the fact that Shimadzu's R&D and production facilities are located mainly in western part of Japan (in case of Kyoto, approximately 700 kilometers away from the devastated area), we experienced almost no effects from said earthquake and tsunami.
Though a possibility remains that parts and/or materials procurement required for our production activities may be partially affected, we are pleased to inform you that currently our production activities are being conducted on a normal basis.
At the moment, though our cooperation in current rolling blackouts and rebuilding the social infrastructure such as traffics, electricity/gas supply etc. may result in any inconvenience to our esteemed customers, we shall extend out utmost not to bring any effect, even if it would happen.
Again, we thank you so much for your warm messages of encouragement, and your understanding regarding the above is highly appreciated.
