Rice Variety Identification
The variety of rice can be distinguished from the differences in genes (DNA sequences) that they contain. The commercial PCR kit for identification of Koshihikari rice combined with the Microchip Electrophoresis System for DNA/RNA Analysis can distinguish between Koshihikari and other varieties of rice. As Koshihikari exhibits just three distinguishing marker bands, it can be distinguished from other rice varieties.
