Observation Examples of Nonmetals

Observation Conditions: Temperature: 22 to 23 °C; Humidity: 55 to 65 %

Observations were made of changes over time to the half lattice step pattern of the cleavage surface of TGS (ferroelectric tri-glycine sulfate). The pattern changes were likely caused by surface diffusion of ions released from the steps.
