Observation of Calcite in Solution (1)
The growth process of calcite crystals in solution was observed. Crystal growth starts from the kind of etch pit shown in (a-1), passes through the state shown in (a-2), and then the whole area is covered in steps, as shown in (a-3), hiding the etch pit. It took approx. 15 minutes to go from (a-1) to (a-3).
