Mouse and Plant Genotyping Using FTA™ Cards

Simple PCR was performed using a combination of Ampdirect^® to eliminate DNA purification and FTA^® Cards manufactured by Whatman. This combination significantly reduces the effort required for genotyping of knockout mice and transgenic mice and for plant genotyping, and also the DNA sample can be stored on the card for a long period at room temperature.

Gene Amplification Reagent Ampdirect™

Blood and animal tissue contains large quantities of substances that inhibit enzyme reactions. Therefore, purification of DNA from the sample is required to analyze the DNA by PCR.
The Ampdirect Plus DNA Amplification Reagent (PCR buffer) restricts the effects of PCR inhibitors in the sample to permit PCR on samples such as blood, animal/plant tissue, and SDS without DNA purification.
