On June 28, Tianjin-Shimadzu Hydraulic Equipment Co., Ltd. (TSH), a Shimadzu subsidiary in China, celebrated the completion of a new plant that manufactures hydraulic gear pumps and control valves for forklift applications in the Xiqing Economic-Technological Development Area of Tianjin city. The new plant is scheduled to be fully operational by October 2021. TSH plans to increase the gear pump production volume up to 300,000 units per year by 2022, which is double of the level of 2019.
Due to a quick economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in China, the expansion in product distribution volumes has resumed, fueled by a booming e-commerce market. This has helped accelerating the growth of forklift market since it is essential to logistics industry. That has caused a corresponding increase in demand for core components of forklifts such as hydraulic gear pumps and control valves. TSH will reply to the increased demand from the market with an abundant supply from the new factory relied upon its increased production efficiency and improved product quality and performance.
Stricter emission control regulations are expected to accelerate the transition to electric models in the Chinese forklift market. Forklifts with new added value are also actively being developed with a trend of better comfort, quieter operation, and improved economy due to lower fuel or battery consumption rates. Therefore, Shimadzu and TSH will continue developing hydraulic components to contribute to the customers by offering new value based on the unique technology for low electric power consumption and low noise.
