Collaboration with PERSOL TEMPSTAFF for Training Mass Spectrometry Engineers
Contributing to the Advancement of Research and Development as well as the Improvement of the Value of Human Resources
On October 21, Shimadzu Corporation signed a basic agreement with PERSOL TEMPSTAFF CO., LTD. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as “PERSOL TEMPSTAFF”) regarding the development of human resources with data acquisition and analysis skills using a mass spectrometer (MS) and sending them to Shimadzu product users. In recent years, the applications of MS have expanded from basic research in the life sciences to the fields of pharmaceuticals, environment, food, chemistry, and medical treatment. On the other hand, as data acquisition and analysis using MS requires complicated condition setting, specialized knowledge, and experience, there is a shortage of human resources who can obtain highly reliable analytical data. Based on this agreement, the two companies will develop a training program for mass spectrometry engineers and establish a system for providing human resources to Shimadzu product users in order to contribute to solving social issues.
MS is an analytical instrument that identifies substances contained in the target sample and determines their content by ionizing substances and measuring their mass and amount. Since it can measure a wide range of substances and its applications are expanding, Shimadzu has determined five models, including MS, as key businesses for its medium-term management plan.
According to the agreement, Shimadzu will develop a training program, and Shimadzu employees will instruct temporary workers to be sent from PERSOL TEMPSTAFF at its Kyoto and Kawasaki bases using Shimadzu instruments. After the prospective temporary workers employed by PERSOL TEMPSTAFF learn how to operate MS, the company will send them to organizations that use Shimadzu products, such as universities and research institutes. The two companies will develop engineers who have mastered advanced mass spectrometry techniques that the analytical instrument manufacturer has and contribute to research and development using mass spectrometry technology. In addition, they will establish a system in which prospective temporary workers will be involved in the training of new prospective temporary workers after they have mastered analytical techniques, which will support their development to become highly specialized human resources and improve their value in the labor market.
The two companies will work together to provide users with both human resources with mass spectrometry techniques and MS, with an aim to start a service to train and send MS analysis engineers. Through the spread of mass spectrometry technology and the expansion of the mass spectrometry business, we will work to transform into a company that provides end-to-end solutions solution that delivers the data our customers need.
