December 17, 2024 | News & Notices Shimadzu Wins First Silver Award for the Lathe and a Bronze Award for the Milling Machine at the 62nd National Skills Competition
Four Shimadzu trainees attending the Engineering School of the Human Resources Development Department, Human Resources Department, Shimadzu Corporation competed in the 62nd National Skills Competition, held November 22 to 25 at the Aichi Sky Expo. Seiji Soga won the Silver Award in lathe category and Kazushi Nakada won the Bronze Award and Ko Tanioka the Fighting Spirit Award in the milling machine category. It was the first time a Shimadzu competitor won an award in the lathe category.
The National Skills Competition is an event where contestants up to 23 years old can compete to be recognized as having the best technical skills in Japan. It is a gathering of contestants from various companies who have won their respective regional preliminary contests. In the machinery category, where the Shimadzu contestants competed, the competitors competed to achieve the highest machining precision and best workmanship within the available time.
Shimadzu Corporation is committed to training technical personnel with top-level manufacturing skills, the ability to think, and the ability to follow through to completion. Shimadzu also produced National Skills Competition award winners before. Through participation in this competition in the future as well, Shimadzu intends to improve the company’s ability to manufacture critical parts in-house and improve Shimadzu’s manufacturing skills.
