Shimadzu offers three types of LC-MS systems. Single quadrupole mass spectrometers are perfect for quick and easy mass analysis, triple quadrupole mass spectrometers are suitable for high-sensitivity quantitative analysis, and quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer systems are ideal for highly accurate qualitative analysis.   • LC-MS systems are tools configured by adding a mass spectrometer (MS) to an LC system. An MS provides higher sensitivity than a UV detector, which is typically used in LC systems, which makes them well-suited for analyzing low-concentration components. In addition to separating components chromatographically via a column, LC-MS systems also separate components based on their mass differences, which makes them ideal for analyzing complex samples. Shimadzu LC-MS systems are equipped with many proprietary UF Technologies for achieving ultra fast mass spectrometry (UFMS™) with highly accurate results. Therefore, they are used for a wide variety of applications, such as to analyzing impurities in drugs and biopharmaceuticals, measuring functionally beneficial components in foods, to simultaneously evaluating multiple components in environmental or chemical materials, and for quality control based on compliance with various regulatory guidelines/standards.

  • The process of analysis starts with preparing samples during the preparation stage, continues with data acquisition using analytical instruments, and extends to data analysis using software. Ensuring that the overall series of process steps are efficiently accomplished requires the user to have both basic analytical chemistry knowledge and hands-on expertise. Overall process efficiency is affected significantly by both hardware and software factors. To satisfy the broad range of customer needs for analytical operations, Shimadzu offers analytical products that include Analytical Intelligence functionality, a new concept for analytical instruments. Analytical Intelligence features increase business process efficiency while also increasing data reliability. For instance, Performance Concierge functionality automatically checks instrument status and Peakintelligence™ functionality uses AI to assist chromatogram peak detection. Systems also include an Ecology mode that automatically shuts down the instrument if it has not been operated for a certain period, which, in addition to improving business operating efficiency, also helps reduce electricity consumption, CO2 emissions, and environmental impact levels.

Maintenance should be performed even more frequently for some sample compositions or depending on how often analysis is performed. However, reducing the downtime involved in maintenance in order to increase utilization ratios can be a challenge. Therefore, the Easy Maintenance system, designed so operators can perform maintenance without special knowledge or experience, enables quick and easy replacement of the desolvation line (DL), used to deliver samples to the vacuum unit, and the ESI capillary.
