Abstract
Despite significant advancements in recent years, nucleic acid extraction, a pretreatment process for genetic testing and data analysis, still has not achieved widespread use as a simple diagnostic method, because it requires using a manu-al kit that involves tedious manual dispensing operations or large-scale automation equipment.
Thus far, we have developed the EluNA system, which enables quick and easy nucleic acid extraction and purifica-tion without the need for operator proficiency, by fractionating and immobilizing reagents using a hydrophobic gel and magnetic silica particles, and have released a reagent kit that enables DNA extraction from human whole blood. This article reports on the recent development to promote the widespread use of the EluNA system, of a new reagent kit that can be used to extract RNA/DNA from viruses and cultured cells in biological samples.
