Exhibition at the 72nd ASMS Conference
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, Inc. (SSI), which is responsible for coordinating Shimadzu’s analytical and measuring instruments businesses in the United States, exhibited at the 72nd American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) annual conference in Anaheim, held from June 2 to 6.
Each year, SSI designs a special "KickSomeMass" logo to represent the host city and uses it for its booth and website
ASMS is the preeminent professional organization related to the topic of mass spectrometry and allied topics. Formed in 1969, membership exceeds 8,500 scientists from around the world.

In the exhibition hall and the hospitality suite, various product groups were introduced, with a focus on products that were showcased to the mass spectrometry community for the first time.
The "LCMS-TQ RX Series" triple quadrupole high-performance liquid chromatograph mass spectrometers released in May 2024 is designed for manufacturers and contract research organizations in the pharmaceutical, environmental, and food product sectors. This series carries onward the basic functionality of Shimadzu triple quadrupole (TQ) liquid chromatograph mass spectrometers (LC-MS), while providing even higher sensitivity, stability, and convenient operability.
The "GCMS-QP2050" quadrupole gas chromatograph mass spectrometer is more durable, and provides stable, highly reliable measurement data. A Mass Spectrometer is an instrument which electrically analyzes the mass of a sample molecule. Therefore, molecules need to be ionized. GCMS-QP2050 has improved the internal structure of the component that ionizes samples, and the maintenance time has been reduced from approximately 25 minutes to approximately one minute.

In the hospitality suite, product demonstrations and press conferences were held during the day, and for a change, various programs with a fun atmosphere were held in the evening. SSI’s original t-shirts and shiny headbands with decorations were distributed, and participants enjoyed posing for pictures at the photo spot.
Other events included a breakfast seminar in which our collaborators presented on topics related to mass spectrometry, and poster presentations summarizing the latest information on technologies and applications in the lipid, environmental, biomarker, and AI markets.

I have had the privilege of planning the ASMS show for the past 34 years. Preparing for ASMS is no simple task. It takes a great team to plan the show and I am fortunate to have an incredible team! It is rewarding for me to find ways to keep people coming back to visit Shimadzu each year.
The 73rd ASMS Annual Conference in 2025 will be held from June 1 to 5 in Baltimore, Maryland. It is just a short drive from SSI’s headquarters in Columbia, Maryland. We look forward to another exciting conference and hope to see you there.
