Machine Learning to Support Data Analysis in the Food Sector—A World First—
eMSTAT Solution Ver. 2.0 statistical analysis software is the first statistical analysis software in the industry for chromatograms to feature machine learning capabilities. The software uses analysis data obtained by a liquid chromatograph (LC), gas chromatograph (GC), and MALDI (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization) type mass spectrometer (MS). Since multivariate analysis can be easily performed, differences between target groups can be clarified and shown in comparisons with other products during product development in the food sector or in determining the quality of products during quality control assessments. The software features two modes: a Statistical Analysis Mode for easy visualization of differences and a Discriminant Analysis Mode that identifies unknown samples with models created through machine learning.

As a specialized gas chromatograph (GC) optimized for measuring greenhouse gases (GHG) caused by climate change, Greenhouse Gas Analyzer can simultaneously measure carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), the three components that account for 95 % of GHG. It combines Shimadzu’s high-end Nexis GC-2030 gas chromatograph system with NARO’s patented technology for simultaneously analyzing three GHG components. It is equipped with 3 detectors and columns that ensure reliable simultaneous analysis of the three GHG components. It also supports using small vials as sample containers, in addition to conventional gas bags. It can achieve the high accuracy and process efficiency required for GHG analysis in GX research work.

Contributing to the Rapid Development of Pharmaceuticals by Automating Pretreatment in Antibody Glycan Analysis
The MUP-3100 automates the time-consuming pretreatment process in the analysis of antibody glycans, which is required for the research and development and quality control of antibody pharmaceuticals. A 6-axis robot provides labor savings and increases efficiency with respect to processes that were conventionally performed manually. This enables not only continuous operations, but also eliminates procedural mistakes, ensures the safety of operators, and lessens the burden on them.
It is expected to be used by pharmaceutical companies as well as contract manufacturing organizations (CMO) and contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMO), where it will contribute to speeding up the research and development of pharmaceuticals by heightening the safety and efficiency of operations. The MALDI EasyCare systems have been designed to facilitate routine user maintenance to help retain optimal instrument performance for high throughput or high-laser-shot-number MALDI-TOF MS applications. All MALDI-TOF instruments are prone to fouling of the ion optics positioned close to the sample, or detector wear, and this can lead to reduced instrument performance e.g., reduced sensitivity and resolution. With the MALDI EasyCare systems, end users can easily perform maintenance tasks without the need for an expensive service engineer visit. A software wizard guides the user through the entire process. Here, we provide an example showing how the performance of an instrument used for MALDI imaging was recovered by this simple user maintenance procedure.

Nexera™ FV
Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatograph for Online Dissolution Testing
The Nexera FV ultra high performance liquid chromatograph (UHPLC) for online analysis is connected directly to a synthesis reactor or dissolution testing machine. After the raw materials or pharmaceutical samples are placed in the peripheral equipment, tasks up to data acquisition by the LC are performed automatically. With the Nexera FV, samples are automatically injected into the LC from the peripheral equipment via an autosampler (automatic sample injector) equipped with a newly developed flow vial kit. It can operate continuously without an analyst, enabling continuous sampling and analysis even overnight. Dedicated software (LabSolutions FV) simplifies the setting of sampling timing and analysis mode, as well as the data analysis of the results.

The world’s first quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer system equipped with ion dissociation technology
The OAD-TOF system, a quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer, is the first in the world to provide detailed structural analyses of lipids and other natural compounds. Oxygen attachment dissociation (OAD), an ion dissociation technology developed by Shimadzu, enables estimation of the position of double bonds between carbon atoms, a conventionally difficult task. In OAD, atomic oxygen is made to react with the ionized sample, and the double bonds between carbon atoms are selectively broken (dissociated). Information on the position of the double bonds between carbon atoms is then obtained from the ion fragments generated by the dissociation. A quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (Q-TOF MS) measures the size and amount of samples separated at the atomic and molecular levels, thereby obtaining precise information on compounds. In combination, these techniques elucidate the structure of all types of compounds including lipids and other biological compounds.

IRSpirit-X series Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometers provide both a small, lightweight design and the highest levels of sensitivity in their class.
