Shimadzu Corporation and Kobe University are cooperating on building an autonomous laboratory system. They are jointly verifying efficiency improvements based on the DBTL cycle, which includes these steps: implementing improvements to designing metabolites/genes (Design), building hosts (Build), evaluating productivity and metabolomics (Test), and analyzing experimental results (Learn). Specifically, the joint research topics are "improving the enzymatic functions causing bottlenecks in metabolic pathways for producing substances with enhanced functional properties" and "automatically optimizing culturing parameters."
